Description
My Hogwarts OC's pet owl, Gylfie. She's an incredibly irritable and aggressive creature to pretty much everyone except Red. However Red has plenty of scars on his hands from back when the owl hated him too. It took him three years to finally have a bond with her, she was pretty stubborn and hard to please. She doesn't like other owls and is incredibly attention-seeking, she'll often peck if she feels like she's being ignored.
She's a brown wood owl, if you're interested in species. I felt like drawing her, and I;d been wanting to draw an owl again for a long time. I'd originally planned to re-draw Hedwig, but I felt that Gylfie needed some love, so here we are. Her markings are a pain in the butt to get down. I drew the lineart at 2am yesterday before running off to services and nearly flooding the whole upstairs of my house in a 4am terror scene. Oh it was an insane night. I may make a journal telling the whole story after my exams. This drawing is a mere result of procrastination. It shan't happen again......I hope.
I'm not very good at drawing owls, so I'm trying to practise. The eyes really bug me and so do the feet. But I wish to improve. So I'm cool with you critiquing this if you feel like you could spare the time. I probably won't re-do it, though, it was A LOT of effort Those feathers.....are horrible D: *lazy*
I still need to do revision tonight so I'll stop rambling. Stock: [link]§ion=&global=1&q=night+premade+background#/d37dnkc I also stalked a few pictures of owls on Google images for rough references: [link] [link] Also used [link] with kind permission of

Vision:
The posture of the owl doesn't seem agitated or distrusting as it says in the description. It feels warm and embracing.
Originality:
The coloring of the owl really works well as a compliment to the background, and even the colors within the feathers create a creature of beauty.
Technique:
Gold/Yellow Feathers: Using a differing yellow/gold hue for the chest and upper wings will help those areas have a sharper/blended look, rather than appearing sketched when compared to the rest of the drawing.
Impact:
The owl being in mid-action really draws the attention - creates a realistic sense of being airborn.
